It’s just one of many ways the well-oiled dream team gives back to its growing legion of supporters- one slice at a time. One of the ways Brent and Starr have shown appreciation to their adoring public is by inserting a seventh pizza entree to the menu that asks individuals to select three vegetable toppings of their own choosing. I believe that customer service and making our customers feel special is a big part of it,” Star noted. “What’s important for us is making that connection with our community and the surrounding areas. While Brent’s construction and repair background has prepared him for the necessary oven and mechanical maintenance that comes with running a mobile food vending entity, Starr’s marketing, planning and social media know-how has helped Milltown break into new areas. The real secret sauce is the teamwork of the husband-and-wife duo, who possess complementary skill sets. The recipe wouldn’t be nearly as flavorful, she claimed, if it’s cooked in any other oven.īut the pizza- which takes no longer than five minutes to cook and serve once an order is placed- isn’t the only component that has allowed Milltown Wood Fired Pizza to rapidly emerge as an overnight success. The dough, in particular, is custom-made for the Yertons by a pizza commissary. Her weekly duties require her to accompany Brent on weekly 90-minute trips to Sumner to secure many of the ingredients they’ll need. It’s definitely a lighter taste and it’s not dripping with grease,” explained Starr, the 48-year-old Los Angeles-born and Yakima-raised mother and grandmother, who married Brent four years ago. The wood fire creates a crispy taste, but also a smoky wood fired flavor. Each of the selections, according to Starr, has developed a following at farmers markets in Chehalis, Toledo and Morton, as well as private and public events in other cities. The Yertons soon formulated a small menu of pizza offerings, including classic pepperoni, Margherita, meat lovers and garlic chicken varieties, along with breadsticks and chocolate-chip and brownie desserts. Undaunted by how much knowledge both would have to acquire in entering their new industry, Starr rolled up her sleeves and performed extensive research into their food product and the logistics involved in creating a loyal customer base. “In this business, I get to meet multiple people each day, whereas in construction, I’m working with one person for a few months or however long the project takes.” “Never in a million years did I see myself making pizzas,” added Brent, 52, who still owns his carpentry enterprise. But with that adventure came uncertainty given how neither one of the two entrepreneurs had ever used a wood-fired oven, let alone handled the kind of food going inside of it. In April, we decided to drive to Nashville, Tennessee and bought our trailer,” recounted Starr, who also craved the kind of adventure associated with building a new business from the ground up. But after we realized the overhead cost and the time it was going to take to run the restaurant, we decided to go mobile instead. “We were first going to buy a brick-and-mortar in Morton. By Ralph Mancini / couple’s designs on sharing their love for thin-crust pizza has been picking up steam from Centralia to Poulsbo and beyond, with their roving wood-fired oven scooping up new fans along their travels throughout Washington.Īfter spending a good chunk of his adult life building and renovating homes as a contractor in Morton, Brent Yerton developed a hankering for a little more day-to-day variety in his life and joined forces with his wife, Starr, in making good on his ambitious dream of spearheading a trailer-based pizza operation.

His record was broken in six weeks’ time by John Landy. He builds speed he holds back he crosses his pacer he finishes and collapses into the arms of the onlookers. Yet there he is, a four-minute poem whose horsey grace isn’t quite matched by the trundle of the camera following him. The day of the race was wet and cold, and he almost didn’t run it. The other racers that day, great athletes in their own right, were all Bannister’s friends and pacers. “Some have said that one element of courage is dignity in the face of adversity, and I now had plenty of practice,” he wrote later. He had prepared for the record for years, including his Olympics training. He went off hiking with a friend a few weeks before the race, to clear his head he went to work and had lunch with friends before turning up at the Iffley Road track where he would make history.Īmateur he was - in the best and most snobbish British tradition - but spontaneous he was not. In a world where corporations aggressively pursue talent to help them realise their record-breaking dreams, scouting them from small villages in East Africa and experimenting furiously with their environments to improve their times, it’s not hard to see why Bannister’s run seems like a genteel miracle. “A brick wall,” Landy called the four-minute mark. His great rival, the Australian John Landy, had also been trying for the record, and washed his hands of it just a month earlier. He was 25, ready to relinquish his athletic efforts and devote his time to the medical profession. Having failed previous attempts to run a mile in under four minutes, Bannister was preparing to retire. We know this because of Roger Bannister.īannister’s four-minute mile on a windy May evening in 1954 is probably the most famous story in track history after Pheidippides. We know that once this is accomplished, the dam will break and more men and women will be running two-hour marathons than we can even dream of on this day, in March 2018. We know, or can be reasonably certain, that it will be accomplished in a matter of years. Bannister was active in medical, graduate and undergraduate education and served on numerous NIH study sections and DoD review panels prior to joining CSR.Passing the sportswear ads on Carter Road, I smiled to myself thinking of the distance between my clownish stumbling and the elite runners currently testing the limits of human endurance, as Nike and Adidas work overtime to find and train champions who can run a marathon in two hours. He has over 50 research publications and was named an NIA Butler-Williams Scholar in recognition of his commitment to aging research. Bannister’s NIA- and NINDS-supported research program was to provide information regarding the development of frailty in older individuals through the study of the fundamental mechanisms which underlie skeletal muscle excitability. Bannister relocated his laboratory to the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Following his promotion to associate professor, Dr. He received his post-doctoral training in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado and was then appointed to a tenure-track faculty position in the University of Colorado Department of Medicine. studies in biology at the University of Iowa and completed his thesis at Utah State University. Me and my wife run a small shop and mail order business, we use or at least try to use our TSB business debit card to pay for stock, but find the card is repeatedly being stopped, we order from suppliers on a daily basis have done now for the last 3 or 4 years, we try to pay for all incoming items before they are dispatched so as not to run up huge bills through the course of a month, over the past 3 months our suppliers seem to be having trouble taking money, when we call the bank they say that the transaction looks suspicious, though these are the same companies that we have dealt with in the same way for the last 3 years, our bank balance as never been healthier so it is not funds related but is beginning to have a negative effect on the daily running of our business i.e. That, and it takes an average of two calls totalling between 30 minutes to an hour to get any sort of useful response, to an 0845 number at lots of pence per minute. Holidays are what you spend your entire working life looking forward to, and despite this, Lloyds TSB are prepared to repeatedly spoil them for their customers, to save themselves a few quid. So be warned people - I've banked with them for a decade, and am now looking around for a new bank. Apparently the staff at Lloyds TSB are unable to do anything about this. I actually (after another 45 minute call this evening) managed to establish with their staff, that even if we log all of our travel arrangements with them, there is still a good chance that a machine will override it and place a block. This is despite having repeated the process the week before departure to tell them we're going away, what the dates are, where we're going, and which cards we are taking. Card is blocked every time we go away and we spend the precious little time we should be relaxing oh holiday, on the phone to our bank! Sadly, coupling a tablet with a keyboard accessory wasn't enough because, for quite some time Android, didn't support many multitasking features. Manufacturers have tried to make Android tablets potential laptop or desktop replacements for a while. Plug the S8 into a Type-C port, and your monitor will come to life with an Android desktop UI. Connect it to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, then push the surface down to have it slide out as a kickstand for the S8. That's where DeX comes in.ĭeX (docking experience) is a circular, thick puck with cutouts on its rear for an array of ports. But as large as a 6.2-inch screen may be, it's still far from being the perfect multitasking workstation to replace your desktop. Samsung's Galaxy S8 packs the best specs into a glamorous, nearly bezel-less design. Next Dell XPS 15 laptop may have full-blown Thunderbolt 3 supportĮlgato's Thunderbolt 3 Dock for MacBook Pro will arrive in June Highsĭell’s new G16 is a larger, more powerful budget gaming laptop Otherwise, it’s not better than any other dock. It makes sense to purchase one with a new XPS 13 or XPS 15, particularly if you can find a deal below $250. That said, there aren’t many of them, and many are system specific. The charging power and extra warranty coverage are solid value adds, but its competitors from other mainstream OEMs manage to slide in under the $200 price point. Conclusionĭell’s TB16 Thunderbolt 3 dock doesn’t set itself apart from the pack, unless you’re buying it alongside a Dell laptop. Some Dell laptops offer warranties of three to five years. Purchase it with a compatible laptop, however, and the dock’s warranty is automatically extended to match the laptop’s warranty. Purchased on its own, Dell’s TB16 dock carries a one year warranty against manufacturer defects, as well as regular wear and tear. The dock leans heavily on Dell’s drivers and software to handle its myriad outputs, so it often takes some time to load after waking up the system some sleep, and may not work at all on a restart until the user logs in, and the driver kicks in. We also took issue with the TB16’s need for software support. It also has a rather large power brick, though that means it will charge compatible Dell laptops. The only good way to connect them, then, is by setting the dock directly behind where the computer sits. The Thunderbolt 3 port on our test system, the Dell XPS 15, is also on the left side. It’s very short, at just 18 inches long, and it extends permanently from the dock’s left side. You may have to d/l or install the HP CMSL libraries for get-softpaq to work. The main issue we have with the design is the Thunderbolt 3 cable itself. Get-WmiObject -Class $classname -Namespace $namespace | Select-Object -expandproperty firmwarepackageversionĤ) The following will download the firmware to local machine, extract it, and set it to run silently upon dock disconnect. $namespace = "ROOT\HP\InstrumentedServices\v1" The regex basically checks to see if the existing fw version is not 1.0.14.0 If you want to get fancy, you can use a regex like this 1.0.\b(|1)\b.0 in a detection script like in proactive remediations to determine whether to proceed with the dock fw installation, though it won't upgrade it if already at the right version. use the following query to determine existing dock versions. Standard /silent or whatever switch works fine. Deploy this to all your laptops using whatever software tool you use. Inside the extracted folder is a "manageability" folder.Download the 1.0.14 firmware package (1.0.15 just came out and you can mod this process easily if you want to support it, but if you just wanna "get it done" use 1.0.14 and follow this exactly) and extract but don't install it.Well this is your lucky day because I just finished up a project to upgrade that exact model dock. You can evaluate the trial version for as long as you like before buying. This belief has seen StarTools become the tool of choice for a many thousands of enthusiasts, schools and institutions. The "Pro" version of Sequence Generator morphed into a highly configurable, best in class, image capture suite. Over the next two years Sequence Generator, due do a variety of restrictions we faced when using third party imaging interfaces, created its own native interface. The best part was that we didn't need to spend a fortune to get access to this level of functionality. Suddenly we were able to produce and execute fairly complex sequences without having to reset or perform manual actions for something as minor as a filter change. Originally designed to act as a front end to the Nebulosity imaging suite, Sequence Generator started showing its potential immediately. While we know that engineers, in the absence of any real tasking, will normally be dangerous (at best), we actually used this time as the genesis of something we consider to be quite useful. Sequence Generator was conceived under dark skies in 2010. Map of Sydney (detail) published by Smith and Gardiner in 1855 (CoS, HAtS). With unparalleled access to downtown Boston via MBTA Blue Line or Water Taxi service, you’ll live in the perfect city retreat at Clippership Apartments on the Wharf. These changes appeared on town plans from the mid-1850s. This community offers impressive indoor and outdoor spaces inviting you to gather with friends or retreat in tranquility. A North Shore ferry wharf was built as an extension of north-south Pottinger Street and was also accessible by pedestrians descending sharply from Windmill Street down a new cobbled walkway (later named Ferry Lane). On the north shore of Millers Point, the existing Moore’s and Lamb’s wharves were expanded and Robert Towns and P&O Steamships built new wharves on the west side of the bay. Another notable clipper was the Cutty Sark, built in 1870, which set a record of 73 days to sail from Sydney to England. Join us aboard the flagship of the fleet, the 125-foot Schooner Liberty Clipper and experience the grandeur and excitement of a traditional tall ship As a gaff-rigged schooner, everything is done by hand and you can join in Learn a little bit of tall ship sailing 101 and be ready to HAUL AWAY as you help. The first clipper ship to visit Port Jackson, in mid-1849, was the Phoenician, built in Aberdeen for the White Star line. Risking storms and icebergs around the three major capes of the Southern Ocean, clipper owners and sailors sought high rewards from speedy journeys with valuable cargoes like wool, coal, gold, anvils, pianos, tea, hops and beer. With three masts carrying various square sails, they could achieve speeds of up to 250 nautical miles per day (compared with about 150 nautical miles for older boats).īuilt mainly in American and British shipyards, they were favoured for long trade routes such as England to Australia and New Zealand (returning via Cape Horn). They could carry cargoes and passengers and were often painted stylishly in glossy black with a white stripe. Several new phenomona affected Sydney’s shipping industry after 1850: the advent of fast clipper ships (slicing freight times), a series of gold rushes in rural areas (causing shortages of sailors and wharf workers in Sydney), a boom in building new wharves, roads and buildings, and the new era of photography (especially landscape panoramas captured from high ground).Ĭlippers were designed like yachts, with longer, slimmer hulls than earlier sailing ships. The plan calls for a Harborwalk, beach area and floating dock where pedestrians can launch kayaks – and where neighbors can be reintroduced to a natural shoreline. 300 garage parking spaces will be provided to residents with an additional 20 spaces for public use. The 12-acre Clippership Wharf site sits along the Boston Inner Harbor near the Maverick MBTA Blue Line station, offering sweeping views of the Boston skyline from Charlestown to South Boston. When we were originally searching for a fleet maintenance software product, our fleet maintenance department vetted four different systems. It was a challenge to integrate what we were doing with our old system to the new Dossier system, but the support staff at Dossier Systems (then known as Arsenault Associates) was fantastic with ideas and hands-on assistance that helped us with the transition. We had a previous "house" system to track our 100 plus vehicles and stationary maintenance equipment. Our company has been using the Dossier Fleet Maintenance program since 1998.
